Goodbye Darkness- Get rid of dark circles

Now these are some tired momma eyes. I have blueish/purple circles under my eyes due to lack of sleep (almost 3 years of it) and I pretty much look tried ALL the time. Dark circles can be very aging on the face so I had to find a solution to this pesky problem. My eye "bags" are also a little puffy and unfortunately there is nothing you can do about that.

Dark circles all natural and at their finest.
Step 1: I added YSL Touche Eclat (color #1) to add a subtle highlight and brighten up the darkness.

Step 2: Amazing Cosmetics Amazing Concealer in Light Golden. Because I have blueish/purple circles I picked a concealer with a yellow base to help counter act those colors. I also took the concealer down on my nose and between my brows.

Step 3: Benefit Powerflage really helps to even everything out and camouflage any darkness that your concealer didn't cover.

Here are the products:
The YSL Touche Eclat is a highlighter pen made to give you a refreshed look and help cover up any minor darkness (such as an acne scar). I'm still figuring it out and my feelings are a little mixed on this.

Amazing Concealer: I can't say enough AMAZING things about this product. It wasn't named the 'Amazing Concealer' for nothing. It's creamy, easy to work with, doesn't set into fine lines and covers those dark circles right up.

Benefits Powderflage: This product really is quite cool. It smooths out everything under your eyes and takes away any darkness that your concealer could not cover. It's a VERY light, barely there powder!

I think using all of these products really help to make me look feel more awake and not look like something out of the night of the living dead.

Do you have certain products that you consider a "miracle" to disguise dark circles? Now only if I could figure out a permanent way to get rid of the bags. :(

Thinking outside the box with Motives Cosmetics

I was very kindly sent these products to try from Motive Cosmetics by Loren Ridinger. These products most definitely have me thinking outside the box but they might be a little out of my comfort zone to actually leave the box.
The quality of these products are really nice and the pigmentation is really really amazing as you will see in pictures listed below. If you are one who likes really bright and different colors than you will probably really like the products from Motives and be really pleased. I'm more of a neutral type of girl so I can't say that I'd actually wear some these colors.

This color is "Maniac" a very deep purple

"Go Red" Very, very sultry red.

"Pink Sugar" Now, this is what I'm talking about SO pretty! This is my type of neutral! :) Love this color. Very wearable.

Go Red, Maniac, Pink Sugar (love!)

 Maniac, Go Red, Pink Sugar

All of these lipsticks are $14, enriched with vitamins and minerals, and paraben free!

"I'm a Vamp" and "First Kiss"- Nail Candy

These nail polishes are really lovely. I actually really love the dark purple color the best... surprising coming from the "neutral girl". It's just a very sophisticated color... love it. The pink color is very nice... it's a very light pink with blue undertones. Very chic. They go on really smooth! $5.25

"Plumb Frost" and "Heiress"

I have to say these shadows are way more in my comfort zone. They are so pretty. These shadows are really creamy feeling. Does that makes sense? They are extremely smooth. I really like the "Plumb Frost". It doesn't really look plumb to me... it's more of a plumb mocha. It's a gorgeous crease color. The "Heiress" makes a really pretty lid color and highlight.
These are $12

"Dancing Queen" and "Eclipse" blush

These colors look terrible on me... plain and simple.
That's all I will say about that.
I would really like to try their blushes in "Lust", "Flushed", "Naughty", "So Peachy" because those look so pretty to me and I think would work with my skin color. These did nothing for me other than make me look like a clown. I'm not saying the blush quality is bad but the colors do not work in my favor. I think I will look into buying one of the colors I listed above and seeing how those work for me because their online swatches look STUNNING. These are $13.50

Stila Olivia dupe and how to reuse your old lipsticks

You all know that I've fallen in love with the Stila Olivia lipstick but this is one of those lipsticks that's hard to come by. Why do all GOOD lipsticks get discontinued? I went to MAC earlier this week with my Olivia in tow with a mission to find a good dupe. I found one in a lipstick form and one in a lipgloss.

MAC Shy Girl looks pretty close to Stila Olivia if you ask me. MAC Shy Girl has a touch more pink in it where the Olivia as a peach/pink tone. But, for me this one is as close as you are going to get.

MAC 2N in my opinion is pretty close to Stila Oliva but in a gloss. It's a little more peach toned but it's the best dupe I could find. Very pretty. This gloss is also LE so get it while it's hot!

How to fix your old or broken lipsticks
I ordered 2 more back up's of the Stila Oliva on ebay and they came today. I was so excited but that didn't last long. I opened one up and put it on my lips but it was so hard that I could barely get any lipstick on my lips. It smelled SO bad. You know the smell. Old lipstick. It's just plain nasty. The lipstick looked really weird and broke in half when I was looking it over. So, I had a plan. I was going to try and save this nasty lipstick.

Gross, bumpy, stiff, stinky old lipstick

This is what I did:
First I scooped out all of the lipstick with a clean kitchen knife and a clean boobie pin.

I then put all of the product in a glass microwavable safe bowl

I then placed the bowl in the microwave for 6 seconds. I took it out and mixed it up then put it back in for another 6 seconds. I did this process about 5 more times until it was nice and creamy.

I found an old concealer/powder palette and removed the pans from that. This was the only palette I could find because this was a spur of the moment experiment.

I then took my knife and a small spoon and placed the product in the palette. It was really hard to get the product to look even half way decent in there but it does the trick!!

This is what the color looks like on the lips. I actually think it looks better this way than in the tube. It feels and looks much creamier. I'm really happy I did this because I was really upset at how gross these lipsticks came when I got them. So, now I know... you can always save an old or broken lipstick... and it maybe even look better on than it did in the tube!

Night beauties,
