Blog name change!

I changed my blog name! It's now sarahbellabeauty.com.  I had to change it and it wasn't really by choice and honesty... I'm really quite sad about it. Really sad. However, there is nothing I can do about it now.

My old domain name was about to expire and it was a huge mess and headache trying to figure out how to renew it since google went all coo-coo and changed all their settings. Plus I'm not the most tech savvy gal on the planet.  Long story short, I lost the name and someone else bought it.

Can I take a second to cry. Ahem. Alright. I'm ok.

New start, right?

Well, cheers to a new start with sarahbellabeauty.com.

Thank you to everyone who has stuck with me for the last 5 1/2 years. I know I'm not the best blogger in the world, nor the best writer, or the best photographer, or the most exciting but thank you to everyone who has supported me, encouraged me, and inspired me.

I promise to do better at blogging. I really want to.... so that's a start right. :)

Much love,
Sarah

Fashion obsessed! Vici clothes!

I stumbled upon a clothing line tonight and it's too good not to share. I wanted to state that this is not a sponsored post (though it might seem like it because I'm going to be doing some major raving here) and I haven't actually purchased any of the clothing yet because I literally just came across this line less than an hour ago... and I can I just say, whoever this model is... I want her hair color ASAP. She is gorg!

So, I hope you love this line as much as I do. I really wanted to show them some love because I think their clothes are so beautiful and I think more people should know about it. I'll take everything, please!! :)

Enjoy some of my faves.
Need this black dress like yesterday.
Love this mint top. So cute!!
Uh this mint dress. So.me!! I need this!
This chevron dress would make the perfect summer staple for me.
I would wear this green & white look in a heartbeat!!

Here is where I found them: https://www.facebook.com/viciwalnutcreek
I don't think they have a website & all ordering is done over the phone or e-mail.

New hair color! Garnier Nutrisse Nourishing Color Foam

It's getting colder out, the nights are coming sooner, the sun barely shines... and my hair needed a rich dark change too. Off I went to Kroger's to find me the right color. That's tricky. I often pick something way to dark and flat, something not dark enough, or a color that brings out a lot of red.

Let me be clear, I HATE coloring my hair. I love the look of it afterwards but my hair is so long that it's an absolute pain to do it. I often miss area's too. I'm just not good at it.

This time around I wanted to give a foam dye another chance and I chose:

Soft Black

I stood there for a long time debating between soft black and dark brown and ultimately went with the soft black. I was scared. I've had awful experiences with black dyes. Most of the time it comes out too harsh, too dark and too flat.  This color came out exactly as I was hoping. It's borderline black, borderline really dark brown. It's really rich and has a lot of shine. I'm really pleased.

The application was relatively easy. You first pump the foam onto your roots then move on to the rest of your hair working it in like shampoo. It was a little strange but worked. While working it in, my hair became really tangled and almost straw like. Once I washed the dye out and conditioned my hair felt softer than before.

Here are some picture of the color. Sorry if the picture are a little blurry. I dropped my iphone and there is a crack right over the camera lens. Boooo.

So, that's that. I'm very happy with the color.

Hope you have a wonderful night & if you're from the US, Happy early thanksgiving!!!
LOVE,
SARAH

I would like your feedback.

Ok, so here's the thing, I will always and forever love make-up. I will always be buying new make up, trying it out, and loving it so much that I want to share it with the world but... I'm not really into it all that much as I used to. My passion has really glided over to home decor and home decorating and that's where my real passion is at the moment. I do have a home decor blog My Bella Decor but I really don't update it very much... well, I don't update this blog very much either. I suck.

I guess my question to you would be, do you care if I start posting home decor things on here? I know you joined my blog to hear about make up and beauty products (which I still will do), but would you be interested in me making this blog more of a life style blog than strictly and make up blog. Life, home, parenting, makeup, fashion... the whole sha-bang.

Would that be something ya'll would be ok with? Let me know your thoughts!

Thanks!!

Love,
Sarah

Getting in the Christmas spirit!

Normally I wait until after Thanksgiving to drag up the Christmas stuff but this year I felt, well, like a kid at Christmas. I.could.not.wait. This month seems to be flying by and I thought, why the heck not! I only did a little though, just to satisfy my Christmas decor thirst. I tired to bring up the more neutral things and leave most the red and green until December.

So, here are the few things that I have done so far and the way I move around here, it will change. New things will be added, brought up, and rearranged. But for now, this is what I've done.

I found this sign at a little shop in the summer and I HAD to have it. Free snow here... so when it's arrives, it's ALL yours. Take it. Please.

A neutral November mantel just waiting for December for stockings, fresh greenery, and more, oh my.
Reindeer is from Marshall's, Ornament vine from Marshall's, Wood candle holder from Marshall's, ahhh... everything on my mantel is from Marshall's except the painting (which I did), clearly... I like Marshall's. Clearly.

White nutcracker is from Lowes, silver ornaments from Tar-jay, and glass holder is from Home Goods.

And again, Marshall's. The bucket, green tree, and reindeer... Marshall's. It's my 2nd home.

This setting is not permanent. It was kind of a rushed one minute job right before the kids bath. It will do for the moment but it's not staying.

I have so many more goodies waiting for me in the Christmas box... I can't wait to really go all cray cray up in here and Christmas this place out.

But for now... this is what I have.

Have you started Christmas decorating yet? I don't know what it is about this year but it seems like everyone is decorating a lot sooner than years past. I wonder why....

Have a wonderful day, afternoon, night.. wherever you are.... hope today is beautiful for you!

Love,
Sarah Bella

Update & Instagram

Hello, beauties....
I have once again neglected my blog. This summer has been crazy to say the least. Weddings, birthdays, my son got his tonsils out, two days later he got stitches on his head, entertaining my little ones all day, everyday (I'm tired).  I also have very bad luck with computers.

It must be my thing.

I finally got my computer back from the shop... a new hard drive and $200 poorer. So now that I'm back in business and my kids start school on Tuesday... hopefully I can stay consistent with blogging and videos.

I also finally figured out Instagram. I'm not going to lie, I didn't get it at first. I'm getting old, ok. I couldn't figure out how to find people, how to search for things, it just seemed kind of pointless to me. Now that I've figured it out... I love it.

Anyway, here is my Instagram ((click on link to follow))

I hope ya'll have had an amazing summer! Thank you for sticking with me even though I'm a horrible blogger and such a slacker. Your kind words, sweet comments, friendship, caring hearts always make my day!

Much love,
Sarah

I'm back on Youtube! June Favorites!

I am entering the Youtube realm again and I'm a tad bit rusty. Bear with me. I'll get better. ha ha I hope. Be prepared for a whole bunch of annoying "ummm's". Ugh. I'm so sorry. Truly I am.

I can't wait to get back into making videos and sharing things I love with you and reconnecting with all of you sweeties.

So above in the video I present to you... dom dom dom... my June Favorites.

I'll get better at this. At least I promise to try. :)

Much love,
Sarah

Beauty tips from makeup artist and blogger- Nikki Mata!

Hello, friends! I am so excited to introduce you to Nikki Mata! A few posts ago I was talking about Pinterest and how much I love it (or slightly obsessed to be precise).  For me Pinterest goes beyond posting amazing outfits and home decor... it introduces you to so many amazing people in the world you wouldn't know otherwise. That's how I met Nikki. She has such amazing style! I'd say half of my fashion folder consists of things I pinned from her. Besides having amazing style and talent... she's such a sweet and kind person! She also has an amazing blog that you should check out. She was so kind to do a feature on me a few weeks ago: check it out here (click)

Hi! My name is Nikki and I’m a professional makeup artist based in Los Angeles. It is such a pleasure to do a post for you guys on Sarah’s blog! I know she is so passionate about influencing women to look and feel their best, even finding the right products for them. Far too often there are trends in the beauty world that are merely trends; here today and gone tomorrow. There are products that work for some and not for others. Being that I do makeup all day long for a living, whether on a TV or movie, a special event, photo shoot, or working for one of my accounts at the counter, I’m going to share some of my knowledge and experience.

Let’s start with skin.

I know I’m speaking to a wide audience with vastly different skin concerns so just bare with me. Let’s go ahead and bust a myth.

Myth- “If you have oily skin, stay away from oil”.

Oil is actually very healing, particularly argon oil. I personally have oily/sensitive/combination skin and use 100% argon oil sparingly at night to heal my skin of dark spots and marks. I also use it as a preventative for aging. Before there was a variety of skincare options at the department stores, 50 years ago women like my grandma used baby oil on their faces as nightly treatment. My grandma is 88 years old and has not a wrinkle on her skin! Don’t get me wrong, I don’t know that I’d go ahead and lather on baby oil, but I do prefer Josie Maran’s 100% Argon Oil in 5 fl oz from the grab-and-go bins at Sephora for $8.

A very big-named makeup artist I was working with last Tuesday on a Hallmark movie (who has a resume as long as my legs) laughed at the guy sitting in her chair for using oil-free moisturizer! He was the lead and she totally schooled him. I definitely did NOT want to be him!:)

The short of it- not all oils are created equal. There are good oils for the skin, even necessary.

Let’s move onto foundations.

So assuming that you are looking to purchase a foundation for an event and you need it to last during the day or throughout the night, you’re going to need a long-wear foundation. I don’t wear these on a daily basis but for times when I need that extra coverage, I reach for my Bobbi Brown Longwear Foundation. I think this one, Makeup Forever, MAC, and Giorgio Armani looks best for full-coverage on camera but if your looking for the one with both coverage and still relatively nice to your skin, I’d go with Bobbi. It’s great for people with normal to oily skin. If someone has dry skin and I am using this on them I definitely have to moisturize accordingly so that it doesn’t just “sit” on the skin.

My little secret.

After prepping the skin. After perfecting their full coverage. I now have a blank palette. My favorite thing to do (mostly for everybody) is grab a cream blush in a faint coral and paint it lightly on the cheeks with my foundation brush. Just remember, wherever you put the brush first is where the most color is going to go. Because cream blushes tend to be very pigmented I use it lightly, dab it where I need to, and feather out. I cannot tell you how beautifully natural this looks on the skin. You can use MAC, Bobbi Brown, Tarte..... Play around until you find your perfectly faint coral. I use Bobbi’s “Fresh Melon”.

A trick I learned.

I used to assist a really famous makeup artist. She is the queen of the sexy look. Watching the products she would use and her technique was a priceless and rare education as her assistant. Her tricks are endless. The one thing I will touch on (for the mere fact that this can be for anyone) is how she put on false lashes.

First, the three sets of lashes I would always have to pick up from the beauty store were:

747 Medium
Demi Wispy
G 307

Usually she would pair two of these on the client and was very careful in removing the lashes with the adhesive from the container. You want to keep the same shape of the lash so pull from the center with your thumb as opposed to “peeling” off from one end to the other.

Secondly, you have to measure. It’s okay to not use the full lash. Just cut a tiny bit off the ends so it fits your eye.

Lastly when applying the glue, take some in a quarter of the way to the synthetic hairs and apply, of course, with your tweezers.

After you get the first set on you can the apply the Demi’s on top. Now you have your perfect full lash look that fits YOU.

So those are just a couple of tricks out of my makeup box:)

Nikki on set

I really feel that if you are wanting to be your own makeup artist or if your wanting to do this professionally, don’t feel like all of your products need to be expensive. You can make do with anything, and I’ve seen it! I’ve had to take a rabbit out of a hat sometimes and am astonished when I made something work. I truly believe every woman is beautiful. Every woman can be her own makeup artist. Have fun and just play around with products until you find something you really like!

xo
Nikki

Thank you so much for taking the time to share this with all my blog friends, Nikki! I know they will adore you! Don't forget to check out her blog: http://zoerow.com

Boycott Abercrombie & Fitch...they ONLY want cool, skinny, beautiful, perfect people wearing their clothes.

One thing I love about today's designers and clothing lines is everyone can be fashionable and feel beautiful.  Fashion shouldn't be limited to size. There are women who have amazing style at a size two and there are women who have amazing style at a size 18.... but Abercrombie & Fitch only wants small, beautiful, and cool people wearing their clothes. They don't want plus size women wearing their clothes or shopping in their store. Newsflash, Abercrombie... YOU haven't been "cool" since the 90's.

According to Abercrombie their only target is the "in" crowd and according to CEO Mike Jeffries, plus size women will never be in the "in" crowd.

Sad. I think Adele is in the "in" croud. Who is Mike Jeffries?

In a 2006 interview with Salon, Jeffries confirmed that the communication between hot people is his primary marketing tactic.
“It’s almost everything. That’s why we hire good-looking people in our stores. Because good-looking people attract other good-looking people, and we want to market to cool, good-looking people. We don’t market to anyone other than that,” he said.

Read the rest of the article: Read here !!

I think that's a terrible message to put out there and I think it's a brand that represents discrimination on many levels. Abercombie is targeted towards teenagers and what this bone head forgot is most teenagers cannot afford a $70 tee shirt thus making their target consumer parents! This was a bad and tasteless thing to do.
Mark my words, I will never step foot in Abercombie again... not that I have since 1998 anyway, when I figured out their clothes really weren't all that cool.

How does that article resonate with you? Do you think it's awful? Do you think it's acceptable? Does it bother you? Will you still buy their clothes? I'm curious to hear YOUR opinion on it whatever it may be.

FOTD & new hair color

Ahhhh... it's finally starting to feel like spring and that means I'm slowly emerging from my winter slump.

The winter does me no favors. At all. Winter is my enemy.

It's too cold to leave and I feel like I never have the need to get presentable which is depressing. Getting ready can make the world of a difference on your mood because you feel better

A fresh new hair color and a little fake tanner can somehow brighten my mood. Call me superficial. No, don't.

I'm telling you though... sometimes that's all it takes.

For my hair color I used Garnier Darkest Brown 30-Sweet Cola. It's a really nice hair color but I think I'd like it just a pinch darker. But, I like it.

For my FOTD:
Foundation: Make Up Forever HD 125
Concealer: MAC Prep & Primer Highlighter in Light Boost
Bronzer: NYX Bronzer #2
Blush: Laura Geller Pink Grapefruit
Highlighter: Dior Amber Rose
Mascara: L'Oreal Voluminous Carbon Black
Eyeshadow: Naked Palette- Sin and Dark Horse
Liner: Sephora Smoky Creme liner in Statue Bronze
Lips: NYX Liner in Nude and MAC Cremesheen Glass in Double Dare

Shirt: Marshall's
Necklace: Forever 21
Earrings: Target

Hope you have a wonderful day!
